If you want a board that goes over more types of terrain than just pavement longboards aren’t ideal. There are alternative options, though. Mountain boards have a similar deck to longboards but they use special wheels and trucks so that they can go over all sorts of terrain.

The original sport of mountain boarding came from snowboarders wanting to carve year round and it shows in the development of mountain boards. Each board excels at carving in grass, dirt, and mud and can go high speeds when going downhill.
One benefit of mountain boards is that they usually come with a built-in braking system so riders can control their speed when going downhill. Riders also usually have their feet loosely strapped into the board which makes doing tricks a lot easier.
The star board for everybody from beginners just looking into the sport of mountainboarding to intermediate riders looking to take their board to the next level is the Atom 95X Mountainboard.
With a weight of only 15.5 lbs, this board comes with 8-inch diamond tread tires and all terrain skate trucks. The deck is covered in grip tape and made out of maple laminate to absorb vibration.
One of the best aspects of the Atom 95x mountainboard is that it comes with F1 bindings for riders’ feet and a v4 brake kit. With the bindings, riders ensure that the board will stay underneath them no matter how tough the terrain gets.
The brakes work by applying a metal plate to the back two wheels. The advantage of this simple system is that the brakes can be easily fixed with commonly found bicycle brake components in case the system breaks.
With a built-in braking system and special bindings for feet, this board was unlike any anybody in the crew at Review Longboards had ridden before. While initially skeptical of its claimed abilities, the Atom 95x mountainboard lived up to and exceeded every one.
The board glided down grassy and dirt slopes and finding traction to carve was easy. The board simply does carve like a snowboard. The braking system was also very useful going down steep hills and riders found themselves wondering why more longboards didn’t implement the same system.
The atom 95x also proved itself useful for tricks. Within 2 hours of riding the board, riders found themselves trying to do basic jumps and board grabs and found themselves succeeding. The foot bindings ease the normal difficulty of doing tricks by keeping the board underneath riders’ feet no matter how much air they get.
The video below shows some beginner riders showing off what they’ve learned in the short time since they got their board. It truly illustrates the versatility of the Atom 95x MountainBoard.
Whether you want to try mountain boarding or simply want a board with a braking system, the Atom 95x mountainboard is for you. With the low price and quality components, this board gives you the capability to ride over everything. This board also allows beginner riders to start doing jumps, board grabs, and other tricks much quicker than on a different board.
