When performing any sport, safety is a factor to consider. With skateboarding and longboarding this is even truer. As skateboarding occurs on asphalt or another hard surface, it’s important to find safety equipment that will protect you in case of a fall.
The primary example of safety equipment is the helmet. The brain is the most important part of your body and falling on concrete can very easily injure it and give you a concussion or even something worse.
After testing a number of different products, Review Longboards would like to recommend the Triple 8 “Brainsaver” Rubber helmet. With adjustable straps, it fits every size head snugly and securely.
The feature that makes this helmet stand out, however, is that the Triple 8 Helmet has a liner for sweat filled with an antibacterial solution to eliminate odors. After riding for hours, this helmet will prevent the itchy head that comes from excessive sweat and protect your head with the very best safety techniques.
To find the ideal size, refer to the chart below. Measure your forehead from the center all the way around and find the size in the table.
Wrist Protective Equipment
The most common injury in skateboarding by far is a wrist injury. If you ride for long enough, you will always have a couple of close calls.
Most just end in sprains but some end in fractures or even worse clean breaks. A wrist guard does not completely prevent these injuries but it does negate a lot of the risk involved in skateboarding. See below for our recommendations.
The Triple 8 Wristsaver is made out of an ABS plastic specifically designed to be impact resistant. With a multiple layer system filled with shock absorbing form, the Wristsaver can turn a potential wrist fracture into a mild sprain. It also conforms to the shape of each person’s wrist allowing a comfortable fit guaranteed to not interfere with your riding.
To find your size refer to this chart below. Measure the circumference of your hand at your knuckles and match it to the ideal size below.
