Krown Rasta Freestyle Longboard Review

January 27, 2015 by spike

41KTbp0IEDLThe Krown Rasta Freestyle Longboard distinguishes itself initially from other longboards by its bright colors and vibrant graphics. It is made by the same company who brought us the Krown Sunset city pintail and who is known for good craftsmanship.

It definitely looks the part of an amazing longboard and it comes with some good components that help it fulfill this role.

The Krown Rasta Freestyle deck is made out of Canadian maple and measures 36 inches from nose to tail. In shape and riding, this board is very similar to the Atom Drop Through Longboard.

The 6-inch aluminum trucks are mounted through the deck of the board providing a lower center of gravity and extra stability when going fast. The ABEC 7 bearings that this board comes with enable the wheels to spin quickly with only a little friction.

The wheels of the Krown Rasta freestyle longboard are yellow and are 71mm in diameter with an 81A hardness rating. This is one of the stiffest that wheels can be meaning that these wheels will last a long time.

While the Krown Rasta Freestyle board might not win any awards for excellence in longboarding, it does stand out in a couple areas primarily of which are downhill and commuting.

With the drop through trucks, the Krown Rasta is particularly good at handling high speeds and bombing hills. The trucks provide the necessary stability to avoid speed wobbles which can throw you off of your longboard.

With the smooth bearings and hard wheels, the Krown Rasta also glides down the pavement with a single pump of your legs making it ideal for commuters also. While the turning radius isn’t as small as longboards designed for commuting such as the Quest Super Cruiser, this board still manages to make the 90 degree turns that make it ideal for sidewalks.

The most important area the longboard stands out in is the price. For under $80, the Krown Rasta is perfect for any beginners who are not sure if they want to get into longboarding. The low price in comparison to many other longboards means that beginners can simply buy it and test out the sport of longboarding. The Krown rasta is the perfect starter board.

The true purpose of this board, however, is in carving and downhill. The board glides down hills and produces surprising good slides that leave smooth lines across the asphalt. Definitely, buy this board if you want a stable board that excels at downhill and sliding and can still function as a day to day commuter board.
