The Loaded Fattail skateboard was designed to keep up with the evolutionary look and feel of modern day longboards. The extra room and sturdiness of this longboard makes it great for pretty much any kind of riding.

The Loaded brand began making skateboards by trying to emulate snowboarding and surfing on land. The Fattail certainly fits in line with that philosophy as it’s capable of carving, pumping, and freestyling.

The Fattail is one of 14 current styles of skateboards that Loaded offers, and its name tells you everything you need to know.

What makes this longboard so unique is the added room on the tail of the board, which allows for more comfort, and also opens up the ability for tricks and surfer-style skateboarding.

The Board

The Fattail is 38 inches long with a width of 8.63 inches and an adjustable wheelbase of either 26.5 inches or 27.4 inches. It has a medium to slight concave with a larger than normal kick-tail.

The deck itself weighs 3 pounds, which isn’t terrible for the amount of space that you get with this longboard. It has a vertical bamboo core, which is surround by triaxle fiberglass on the top and bottom with another layer of bamboo on the bottom.

What makes the Loaded Fattail board so unique compared to other longboards is that it comes with three flex options. Flex 1 is for anyone 170-270-plus pounds, the Flex 2 is for 125-215-plus pounds and the Flex 3 is for 75-175-plus pounds.

The lower the flex number the more stiff the board will be, making sure this board is a smooth ride for people of all shapes and sizes.

Loaded Vanguard Flex

Loaded gives you the ability to buy just the Fattail deck, or you can build a complete board with the options they provide.

If you order the Fattail off the Loaded website it comes with a variety of different truck options. They offer either 150mm or 180mm trucks for this board. In the video below they use the Paris 150mm trucks, which are great for carving and are recommended for this board.

As mentioned, the Fattail comes with two different positions to place your trucks. You can set them tighter in if you want to slalom and have a sharper turn radius, or you can set them back for a more comfortable ride.

Same for the wheels as Loaded offers a variety of different options from 65-80mm and 80a, 83a and 86a Orangatag wheels. All are soft wheels that are great for cruising around town and rolling over rough surfaces. Colors available are either purple, orange or yellow.

Overall, the Fattail is a one-of-a-kind longboard that allows you to do pretty much anything your heart desires.

Riding the Loaded Fattail

As for riding the Fattail, there really is nothing else like it out there. It gives you the ability to cruise around town, bomb a hill, carve it up, do some major pumping, slalom, or lay down some cool tricks that you can’t do with normal longboards.

This board is best used as a cruiser board to ride around town or on a school campus. The large, soft wheels allow you to roam free without fear of interruption from rocks or sidewalk cracks.

The extra height and nominal concave of the board gives your feet a sturdy feeling atop the board for an agile ride. Loaded’s flex pattern helps this board conform to the rider, allowing for more control for carving or pumping.

The Fattail comes with a with a unique grip tape design already on it that adds some extra comfort on the top of the board to stabilize your feet.

The shorter wheelbase of the Fattail gives you a lot more responsiveness when carving and turning on sharp curves around town.

This is a little smaller than your typical longboard, which makes it feel like you’re flying around. The Fattail puts you in control and allows you to glide around with ample space on the deck.

The Fattail’s primary function is to serve as a commuter/cruiser longboard, and that’s what it’s best used for. However, the kick-tail and nose of this board allow you to have a little fun while cruising around.

Who Should buy the Loaded Fattail

There are many different reasons why you should buy the Loaded Fattail, but the number one reason is because of the comfort and versatility this board gives you. The flexibility and responsiveness of the Fattail allows you to ride it just about anywhere, whether it be riding around town, on a school campus, or down some hills with your friends.

The ideal buyer for the Loaded Fattail is someone who needs a board for transportation purposes for school or work but also likes to have a little fun.

The best feature about this longboard is that it gives you the option with the longer kick-tail to do some tricks. This board will have you riding manuals all the way to work or school.

Overall, though, this is a very versatile longboard that can be used for carving, pumping or freestyle riding.
