Electric Skateboards have slowly grown to prominence these past few years with the advancement in battery and motor technology. Some of the most well-known electric skateboards are the Boosted Dual 1500W and the Yuneec E-GO electric skateboards. With their low price tag and a wide range of features, they are hard to beat out. While the Boosted Dual board especially might look more visually stunning, the Metroboard aims to compete on top speed and range at which it excels.
The Metroboard Slim Electric Skateboard is a just released product from the electric skateboard makers, Metroboard. While some might not have heard of this small company, it is run by a small team which built its foundation on excellent customer service. Starting off with the original Metroboard sold in 2007, they have drastically improved and expanded their product lines to become a dominant electric skateboard maker today.
The Metroboard Slim Electric is constructed with a 40” black longboard deck giving it an average length suitable for all aspects of longboarding. It comes with the highly rated Caliber II Reverse Kingpin trucks which give the board a smooth carving capability.
For wheels, there is a multitude of options ranging in width and color. All of the wheels offered though do absorb a great amount of vibration giving the board a smooth ride no matter how rough the surface. One aspect of the board’s manufacturing that did stand out during the review process was that the entire board is constructed in the USA.

The Metroboard Slim Electric stands out from all the other electric skateboards with its specifications. With only a 3-hour battery charging time, this board has a range of up to 20 miles, the longest of any board on the market currently. For comparison, to other boards check out our electric skateboard comparison chart!
The same lithium-ion battery pack that gives this board its outstanding range, gives it a top speed of 20 mph. The one con to this amazing range and top speed is the weight of 17.8 lbs. While heavy, with the range of 20 miles riders shouldn’t feel the need to have to carry this board around much.
Instead of using an app on your phone to control the board, the Metroboard Slim Electric uses a physical controller which took the idea of the Wii Nunchuck and improved it for this application. By providing the user with two buttons, one for accelerating and one for braking, and a joystick, to change the levels of acceleration/braking, the controller provides a seamless ride. It also allows easy cruise control for those long rides.
As an added bonus, the Metroboard Slim Electric skateboard has headlights on the front and back of the board which provide enough light to illuminate the road in front of you allowing the rider to see obstacles in the road and turn to avoid them. At night, when drivers might be distracted, these headlights are a key to being seen and they can easily be turned off during the day using the joystick.

With the vibration absorbing wheels and the Caliber II Reverse Kingpin trucks, known for their carving ability, the crew at Review Longboards knew we were in for a ride when we tested this board. Initially, the joystick was confusing as riders were used to using apps on their phone to control their boards.
Within an hour, however, each rider was able to confidently use the joystick and make control of the board appear seamless. After questions with the riders afterward, most agreed that the joystick, while unusual, was intuitive to use and they were able to pick it up quickly.
While riding the board down hills and accelerating up steeper hills, the crew soon learned that there were not many hills that the Metroboard Slim Electric could not conquer. This board smoothly transitioned from one carve to another downhill and seamlessly transitioned from acceleration to braking in the hours spent riding it.
With the longest range of any electric longboard on the market and a high top speed, this board is ideal for consumers who want a top of the line electric skateboard with the best specifications around. Some disadvantages to this board are that the aesthetics are not as smooth as other boards such as the Boosted Dual 1500W, and it is a heavier board.
To quote an individual’s review of the Metroboard however, this board “wasn’t built to be ‘cute’ with a super slim battery pack or an app with stats and gizmo’s, etc…. it was just over-engineered to be a solid and reliable piece of equipment, and I appreciate that.” The Metroboard Slim Electric Skateboard is one of if not the most functional boards on the market in terms of riding experience, top range, and top speed.
