The Sector 9 Mini Shaka Skateboard is slightly different from other reviews in that this is a primarily a board for sliding and tricks. With a symmetrical 42 inch deck shown to the left, this board is easy to ride traditionally and switch which is useful when performing slides.
The Mini Shaka deck is made out of 8 ply maple and cold pressed from a special Sector 9 rocker mold. It also has a miniature (5/8 inches) drop in it to provide a foothold while riding around sharp corners or sliding the board.

The Board
The Sector 9 Mini Shaka also comes with 10-inch Gullwing Charger trucks and 65 mm 80A Sector 9 Butterball slide wheels. While the trucks are traditional, the addition of special slide wheels adds an additional approx $30 of value for free to the board.
One aspect of the Sector 9 Mini Shaka that hasn’t been mentioned yet is its visual appeal. With a wide variety of distinguishing and vibrant graphics, style is not a problem with the Sector 9 Mini Shaka longboard.
Riding the Sector 9 Mini Shaka

With a slightly dropped deck and special slide wheels, this board was initially tested on its slides. Unanimously, the riders decided that this was one of the best boards for learning how to slide.

Throughout the duration of the day, it was easy for riders to use the deck as a secure foothold and transition to smooth slides that left thick marks marking the board’s progress down the hill.
With the symmetrical deck, riding the Sector 9 Mini Shaka switch was the easiest experience of any boards the riders attempted to ride switch.
This excellence in sliding also gives this board great carving ability. Riders easily performed hard curves down steep hills smoothly transitioning from one to another with small slides.
One quirk of the Mini Shaka’s design is that the lower deck and smooth wheels also make it ideal for long distance pushing. Riders had less distance to go from the deck to the ground and the wheels had no resistance against the ground leading to long distances passing quickly.

Who should buy the Sector 9 Mini Shaka?
With slide wheels and a dropped deck, the Sector 9 Mini Shaka is first and foremost a sliding board. It takes the often difficult process of learning how to slide and makes it easy for riders to quickly get their first slides down.
The same aspects that make this board ideal for slides also make it perfect for carving down steep hills and learning more longboard tricks. With the fact that this board comes stock with great components, the Sector 9 Mini Shaka is a steal for the price.
